From Village Green to the Verizon Center

video

Village Green
is a group of low income apartments and townhouses in Kansas City that gets one star out of five on Apartment Reviews.com. In the words of Clyde Davis "sheeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiitttttttt" apartment reviews.com don't know what the hell they are talking about. I've spent many nights in my aunts house in Village Green and my cousins still stay there. It's not a country club but it deserves more than one star.

On the other hand, growing up in Village Green you'll probably lack the financial resources to travel many places, especially to the Verizon Center to see the Wizards play. So this is for my family in Village Green, I'm gonna take you to the Verizon Center through my pics and videos. We are all gonna get there one day.

Big thanks to my homeboy. KC's own Corneal for coming through with the tickets and showing me a good time in the nations capitol. This expericence wouldn't have possible without the good ole hometown hook up.

Not only did we have excellent seats at the game. We were able to go into the Johnnie Walker coaches club and eat free food during the game.

From Gregory to the Garden

I can now say that I've made it from Gregory to the Garden in style. There are so many things that I can say about the experience but pictures and video's say it all. Here I am before the game in the lobby of Madison Square Garden.
video

After walking through the lobby Chris and I head through Club suites on our way to the box.

Once through the club doors I hop on the escalator headed to my seat.
video

Off the escalator I catch the elevator to the box.

Off the elevator I roam the halls headed to room 1047.
video

Finally made it to my destination.

My President is Black

This was my first year voting and I can't be more elated with the results. The year 2008 has been interesting year and I can't wait to hear skillz 2008 wrap up. As a black man I feel that America is finally taking a step forward in equality. I know that Obama won't change all of our problems while he is in office but him being in office is a symbol of change.
My President is Black
My President is Black History
My President is American History
My President is World History
Only one generation removed from Africa, Obama navigated his life to become the President of the United States and by voting I have helped create world history. There has been three key times in my life where I have felt the power of the masses uniting for one common goal. The first was the Million Man March, second was Jena 6, and finally obama's election.

Yesterday was powerful and with the election of Barack the promise of hope will continue to rise with me like the morning sun. I am the description of promise and the poster for pride, I got both to show and neither to hide.

New York Marathon

I've never ran cross country but being the avid sports fan I am (along with the promise of a free all you can eat breakfast buffet ) I decided to show up to the annual ING Direct New York Marathon. For those who aren't familiar with the race, it's no walk in the park. Its the largest marathon in the world with 37000 participants. The runners race through all five boroughs of New York's raggedy streets for a total of 26.2 miles. The fastest times are usually just over two hours, however there are a lot of people that participate in the race just for personal goals. After this grueling race some pass out or need medical attention. One guy actually died this year after completion of the race, but for most participants completion is a feeling of satisfaction.

If i'm still in New York i'll be attending next year.

Philly Corn Liquor

When someone mentions Philadelphia these are the top 5 things I think about.

1. Will Smith

2. Randall Cunningham's Eagles

3. Beanie Sigel

4. Rocky's old ass running up the steps to Liberty Bell

5. Cheese Steaks

After spending my Halloween weekend in Philly, I have bumped Rocky and Beanie Sigel to add Corn Liquor and Mural Art to my top 5 things that make me think about Philly.
This bleach bottle of corn liquor cost 40 bucks and its worth every penny. My night of festivities began by taking a double shot of 'CORN' as the host referred to it and it went down smoother than a glass of apple juice. Shocked that the corn was so smooth I instantly turned into the self proclaimed Corn Liqour spokesman. I was telling everyone around me how smooth the CORN goes down the hatch and how it's so much better than Patron etc... etc... etc...

Five minutes later the corn started to choreograph Micheal Jackson thriller dance steps in my chest. The liquor felt like it was nervous pace walking through my chest from nipple to nipple. Five more minutes passed, the nervous corn headed towards my stomach, and began a river dance concert in my gut. Needless to say, that was my last shot of corn for the weekend. I'll stay with my Patron.

While riding through the different neighborhoods of Philly I had a chance to appreciate the mural art painted on the sides of dilapidated buildings. The art really brightened up many decaying neighborhoods. What I really like about the art is that people from the neighborhood are used for the murals. If you're ever in town an want to check out the murals there is a tour that runs Monday - Sunday.

Living Dreams through Laughter.

It's Halloween weekend, the Philadelphia Phillie's has have been crowned the world series champs and are parading though the streets, but in another location somewhere in the deep streets of south Philly a reunion of college buddies is occurring. Amongst the group of successful men, one has been overly blessed with the gift of making people laugh.

That one is named Montee Rogers. I can remember days of being doubled over in laughter outside my dorm, cafeteria and class because of Montee's humor. He has now carried that humor from the college campus to the comedy stage. Montee Rogers is quickly becoming a crowd favorite in the hampton roads area. Check out the interview I had with him.
